Item #36251

Swedish Model 1860/64/68 Rolling Block Rifle (Centerfire Conversion)

  • Maker: Swedish
  • Model: Rolling Block
  • Caliber: 12.17mm

  • Description: Serial #4345, 12.17 x 44mm CF, 33” barrel with a very good bore that has dark freckling within the grooves near the muzzle. This is a conversion of the Model 1860/64 Hagstrom rifle (itself a conversion of an earlier percussion rifle) by the Carl Gustafs arsenal, and has the distinctive short forend swell. The barrel retains traces of the original blue with the balance having dark plum-brown streaked with pewter gray along its entire length. The frame has a dark pewter gray patina with visible, muted color case-hardening, while the breechblock and hammer finished bright. The forend and buttstock are in fair-good condition with numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes in the arsenal refinished wood. The robust action functions flawlessly, and the original ramrod is included. These rifles were converted from a Hagstrom Conversion of the original Model 1860 Wrede muzzleloading rifle. This example is in about very good condition overall, and would make a great addition to any collection. Antique
