  • Description: his saddle seat is a rare relic dating from between 1770 and 1850. It was found about 15 years ago hanging in a barn in Maine. It is in poor condition and missing the skirts and stirrups. However because saddles were normally used until they wore out, and were typically stored in a barn or outbuilding, ones from this period are very rare. The iron brackets and nails are all hand wrought and the piece was apparently hand made by a skilled saddler.
