Princess Louise Dragoon Guards (Canada) Pattern 1890 Cavalry Sword
- Price: $995.00
- Maker: British
- Model: Sword
- Description: This is an attractive sword that measures 39 5/8” overall with a 34 1/2” curved, single-edged blade having long, unstopped fullers, and a 9 1/2” false edge. The steel has an overall bright gray patina with scattered spots of dark freckling on both sides. The ricasso has British military acceptance proofs on both sides, as well as a ’94 date on the reverse. The hilt has a quatrefoil-pierced guard, and has an overall plum-brown patina throughout. The interior of the guard has a deeply struck unit marking and rack number “P.L.D.G. / 16” (Princess Louise Dragoon Guards), and the rivet-fastened, checkered grips are in very good shape. The scabbard patina matches the hilt, and has a matching unit/rack stamp at the throat: “P.L.D.G. / 16”. This is a handsome, Canadian unit-marked sword, and rates very good-near fine condition.
