  • Description: This is a stamped metal, rectangular variant R.L.B. buckle of one-piece construction having about 85-90% of a bright gray aluminum finish that has worn to the underlying darker gray iron along the exposed surfaces and edges. There are no visible traces of black paint on the sunburst swastika clutched by the eagle on the front and there are slight bends in the metal along the top and bottom edges. The reverse has typical swiveling belt attachment prongs with a brazed tab bar and no visible maker or R.Z.M. markings. The Reichluftschutzbund (Air Raid Protection League) was formed in 1933 to act as the civil defense arm and air raid wardens of the N.S.D.A.P. but was taken over entirely by the Luftwaffe in 1940. This is a hard-to-find buckle and is in good-very good condition.
