German Ideale System Martini Schuetzen Rifle

  • Price: $1,795.00
  • Maker: Ideale
  • Model: Schuetzen
  • Caliber: 8.15mm

  • Description: Serial #216, 8.15 x 46R, 29 1/2” octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has double-land rifling and some very mild freckling in the grooves. This is a non-maker marked rifle that has 85-90% of the original blue remaining on the barrel with some mild fading to plum-brown on the flats, as well as some minor silvering and fading on the raised edges and projections. The barrel has “PR STAHL” (high quality steel) markings at the breech end, and a small unobtrusive import stamp is present on the underside just ahead of the forend tip. The original winged front post target sight is still present, but there is no barrel sight. The frame has retained 40-50% of the original color case-hardening with the balance turned to a mottled pewter gray patina. The elaborate trigger guard has some visible color case-hardening, however the majority is dull gray. A “100 M” marked rear tang sight with massive aperture disk is fitted. The aperture is adjustable, and the sight is original. The walnut forend is wedge-fastened and has only minor handling marks in the original varnish finish, including a series of shallow impact marks along the right side. The buttstock has some repaired cracks on the left side of the straight wrist, and features a sharply raised comb, angular cheek-piece, and a hooked buttplate that does not fit well at the toe. Additionally, there are some small chips in the wood at the border of the plate. According to the previous owner's notes, he purchased the rifle in 1997 at the Nuremburg Arms Show via an intermediary, and had it imported to the UK where he was residing at the time. This is a very nice German target rifle, in the classic 8.15mm chambering, and is in fine condition overall. FFL or C&R
